Description

The Fuss About Queens and Other Stories, a brilliant collection of short stories by Darius Cooper, delves into disparate universes, including the charming world of the Parsis in Mumbai, caught in a cultural and historical
time warp, with the fire temple, the tower of silence, dusty tomes of Dostoevsky, and the British monarch’s portrait in a drawing room, set up with period furniture—a truly stunning mosaic.

Darius Cooper was born in Pune and got his first Master’s in Literature and Aesthetics from Bombay University. He taught at the SIES College in Sion, Bombay, from 1972 to 1979. In 1980, he left for the US on a scholarship to pursue further studies at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. In 1982, he got a second Master’s degree in English from USC and in 1989 he got a PhD in Literature and Film from USC. He currently resides and teaches Critical Thinking, Humanities and Film in the English Department of San Diego Mesa College.
He has authored Between Tradition and Modernity: The Cinema of Satyajit Ray and In Black and White: Guru Dutt and Hollywood Melodrama. Beyond the Chameleon’s Skill, a volume of poems was published in 2011.
